Elsa Havas is a Finn who graduated as Bachelor of Sports Studies with Adapted Physical Activity (APA) as her Major. Elsa is enthusiastic about inclusion and traveling. In 2017, Elsa traveled to Australia and New Zealand and interviewed professionals and characters who influences in the field of inclusion. Meetings and gathered understanding lead to the next chapter of Elsa’s career: Master’s Degree of Sports Sciences. Even though, Elsa is in the beginning of her career she has already worked as a Lecturer of APA in Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences. She has worked as a sports instructor in psychiatric hospital targeting in Psychosis Unit and Forensic Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic. During the past few years, Elsa has done a lot multicultural co-operation in a sports field working in New Zealand and Italy. Elsa’s strength is her ability to dream big. That strength appears in her personal life as well as in working life.

In this series of podcasts Elsa talks to experienced practitioners and experts in disability sport, inclusive physical activity and sport about their understanding of adapted physical activity. She gains different perspectives from around the world and explores the ways in which adapted physical activity is applied globally.

Peter Downs is founding Director of The Inclusion Club and full-time Manager of Play by the Rules – an Australian national initiative to help keep sport safe, fair and inclusive. He has close to 30 years experience in inclusive sport and areas associated with adapted physical activity.

Dr Simon Darcy has a long career in disability rights and inclusion and now works at the University of Technology, Sydney. Jose Bello, who’s always been enthusiastic about soccer, wanted to provide a place for families and children with additional needs to experience soccer by developing Soccajoeys Foundation. Jose sees a huge positive shift in terms of inclusion in Australia. Jose’s vision is to offer for coaches and students opportunities to gain experience about adapted soccer through Next Step Programme. Bridget Meyer is with the Halberg Disability Sports Foundation in New Zealand. Bridget has a strong belief in inclusion and she works hard providing inclusive opportunities for all. She runs a programme called Adaptive Mentoring in Dunedin which aims to bring children and a university student together to find a sports hobby for children.
