Martin Mansell

Martin has been involved and worked in the field of Disability Sport for over 50 years, first as a competitor (including 2 Paralympic Games, 2 World and 2 European Championships) then as a professional working both at grassroots and elite level.

After competing Martin was also elected as the 1st Chairperson of both the British and the International Paralympic Athletes Commissions providing a voice of the athletes in each of the organisations. He has served on numerous disability sport-related committees and organisations. 

In 1998, Martin set up MJM Associates as an Independent Advisor on inclusion in physical activity, PE and sport where he worked for a number of National and International Organisations as well as small one-off projects focusing on inclusion. In 2000 he developed the ‘Ability vs Ability’ cross-curricular Paralympic education program which influenced the present structure Paralympic education across the world.In 2002, he went back to his roots and redeveloped Floatsation, which is a floating device providing opportunities for people of all abilities to float in instead of on the water (see The Inclusion Club Episode 34 – May 2013). This background and personal experience has given him a unique and comprehensive understanding of inclusion within the physical activity environment. Inclusion is for all.
